Patients commonly undergo spine surgery if they have an anatomical abnormality that is causing pain and/or other related symptoms in other parts of the body, such as the legs, neck, arm, or back. Although most patients generally recover successfully from a spine surgery, some patients do not, and continue to experience persistent pain. The symptoms vary depending on the location of the spine surgery. For cervical post-laminectomy syndrome, symptoms typically affect the arms or neck. For lumbar post-laminectomy syndrome, symptoms generally affect the legs or lower back. Patients can benefit from a variety of different therapies, ranging from medications, to physical therapy, or spinal cord stimulation.
